My friend Kristina Estell and I just started a new etsy shop. She lives in Minnesota and I live in Indianapolis...she was home visiting over the holidays and we brainstormed at a Barnes and Noble one afternoon...both of us wanting to collaborate. We work well together even if we are apart. So in just over a month we have launched our little button company.

Here is how our friendship began:

Jenny and Kristina met in the dusty workshop of furniture design 201 at Herron School of Art. Sharing a workbench 3 hours at a time, day after day, week after week, they soon became great class companions and realized they shared many common interests. Jenny started a successful craft business and Kristina joined the enterprise by working for her as a maker, baker and lunching partner. A great working relationship and friendship was formed. After graduation, Kristina moved away and said “good bye ” to Indiana. Through years of change, new work, travels, and adventures, Jenny and Kristina have always remained good friends. Pin Points is their long distance collaboration...a place to bring two artistic visions together once again in a unique, fun and simple set of pins. Each set reflects the distinct visual interest of each of the artists as well as “pin points” their special artistic connection.

Gift Bags

Been busy creating things from what I have. My cousin Ginny Kay (thank you) gave me a bunch of old photos and since they are "newer" than what I use for artwork I decided that I needed to make some gift bags. It started out Ed and I sitting at the kitchen table creating funny tag lines. Like Hey Madge, ... (well her panties are showing) your mandolin is showing. Ed and I work well together. But, I lost interest in about the 28th tag line. So I went on to do something else and Ed wrote about 95 of them. They are funny!!!!

I took them to my new booth space at Reclamation in SoBro.

(this is what I should write as a journal entry if I kept a journal)

This is my newest space at Recalmation in So-Bro (which is south of Broadripple (Indiana) I think it looks better in "real life". I am always willing to try new things to generate income. Never afraid of it. But, after I am all set up I question myself. like: this space is in the basement and the stairs are kinda of steep. will anyone go downstairs, are they going to shop lift, is it cute at all, what if I don't make my rent etc etc etc.... For me I love the hunt but I LOVE to SELL it even more. For me this is part of my "job" my "income" I am not playing shop. But, I can't take it too seriously because it is only STUFF. The pro's are the shop is open 7 days a week, they have been getting some press, and I have sold a few things. IT is WINTER people stay in and re-arrange furniture (at least that is what I have been doing)...it will be fine. It will all be fine.....

My biggest cheerleaders...my Mom and Step dad Jim. I asked them today if they at least enjoyed doing it....I got some sort of smart alec comment :) I could'nt do this without them. We set up a sort of stable Wall in my new space at Reclamations in Southern Broadripple today...it is a work in progress (as everything is). I pulled all these doors and bulletion boards etc. from my garage. (some courtesy of Robbie Moriarty) I will post another picture when I have more in the space. Going back this Weds. stay tuned......

a dog, a tree and a deer

Our Lucy posed under the tree this Holiday Season right after I put down the tree skirt...shortly after it was littered with little packages so she left it alone....until this week. We caught her getting a back rub from the tree (ornaments swinging) and then yesterday she felt the tree skirt would be a great place to eat a raw hide. Of course it was natural and green...that skirt will never be the same. But, she's our GIRL!
I found these spheres at the Exit 76 Antique Mall where I have my spaces (only $4- each) I decided to hang them on our enclosed front porch and then the deer wanted to be a part of things so he is sporting a santa hat. For special times we turned on a spot light. It was all kinda weird but, hey if the shoe fits... :) Ed is in charge of taking down the tree, I fear it may be up through Valentines Day.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

What a year 2011 was. One I would like to not do over. The New Year always does feel like a clean slate, at least it starts out that way. 2011 was a huge change in our house. Ed (my husband) has gone on disability and is no longer going to work as a chemist. Needless to say disability pay does not a salary make. So we are struggling. Enough SAID!!! I am charged and ready to start some NEW and hopefully profitable adventures in 2012. I am really excited about the possibilites of it all.

The first thing is a new VINTAGE & HANDMADE space at Reclamation located in Southern Broadripple at 53th and Wintrop area. They are open 7 days a week so I don't have to be. I am letting go of my newest booth space at the Exit76 Mall in Edinburgh but, I still have 2 others that I will nuture and care for. The possibility of creating a wholesale line with my willing Mother and an additional online business with my good friend Kristina who lives in Minnesota. It is all possible. I am letting go of my part time job at The frame shop although I have enjoyed it, I feel like it is a distraction. If I were making a huge salary that would be a different story as well.

I have a feeling the whole house will become a workshop but, why NOT?

I am also very excited that my niece is going to have a baby this July. The other night Ed and I were out somewhere and I said look at that cute baby and Ed said "I can't wait to see Katie's baby" How sweet! I love my nieces and nephews and wish the best for them in 2012. It is so wonderful to see them grow up and blossom. Since I don't have kids I have to share them :)

I hope that I will blog more, eat less and make more art and more money :) !!!!

A little ROAD trip

Last month I ran into someone at a local Flea Market that gave me a flyer and after a brief conversation she told me that she would be selling in Brazil, Indiana during the Rockville Covered Bridge Festival. I hadn't been to the Festival in years because it is CRAZY there. Lines and lines of cars, the streets become parking lots. I just like things a little less crowded than that. My husband is from Brazil and his sister still lives in the area and I mentioned it to her and she was game. Of course my Mom is up for almost anything so she got up at 6am and was at my house by 7am with a bag breakfast for us and some snacks. You can't take a road trip without snacks. We picked Sister in Law (Pam) up (middle) and off we go. We found the woman who didn't bring the cabinet cards... :( because it had rained the day before. Which I understand but I have done outdoor art fairs for years we all have those big Plastic Containers that do a pretty good job...oh well. Next time.

I did score some pretty good stuff. Lots of little storybook dolls, a blow form Santa that plugs in, a great doll head, rubber trucks, little bowling trophies and lots more. We even hit the thrift stores in town. But, we only scratched the surface. I think we only made 4 stops and we were miles away from the covered bridges where all the REAL action was.
Can you tell I took our picture.....That is my Mom, then Pam in the middle and well me. I did add some blush to us since it was an early morning. I will be working to list these goodies to my etsy site as soon as everything else is added which is an overwhelming amount.

You know the saying that goes something like "don't judge a man until you have walked a mile in his shoes" . That is how I am feeling of late. So many things going on here in my house. The husband is struggling with his health in turn he is struggling with things at work. We are looking for a big change in our lifestyle this year. I have a great amount of faith that everything will work out, it usually does.

SO I will end with sometimes it feels like I am juggling cats. Something I have heard. Until next time!

Thought this was FUNNY. A couple of months ago a friend of mine closed their antique booth and was selling a bunch of things. So, I go to her garage and I carefully go through everything to find the right stuff. I bring it all home and little by little I have listed it on etsy or it has made it's way to booth in Edinburgh. So tonight I say GO LIST STUFF!!!! (worked all day, dog tired) so I thought I will list that corn....hmmmm.....(I live in Indiana where large amounts of corn are grown) I think to myself what exactly is this....I can't pull it apart, is it some sort of odd early plastic advertising something.....so I get out my magnifying glass and read NYLABONE.

So I decorated a birdhouse for a fundraiser for People & Places Up Close. Homelessness. The event is this Saturday May 21st from 6 to 9 pm at the City Market $35- a ticket is anyone wants to go and support the cause.
I haven't been working on much to sell lately and the things I have made haven't made it to any venues. So I am sharing this with you. I love how dark the bird hole ((((is that what you would call it, bird hole?????))) is. I think she looks like a pirate smoking a cigarette. It is wierd and funky which frankly I love. Hopefully someone will bid on it and the monies will go to the great cause. The folks involved in Partners Inside have been so kind.

Their wedding was yesterday and I made them a cake topper. This is the 4th one I have done so far. Just a simple whimsy rendition of the newlyweds.

I have been making a bunch of things lately jewelry, clay things, painting wooden objects etc. nothing has made it to my etsy store. Not sure when that will happen. I may save it all for a little show I want to have in my backyard in September. Not sure yet.

I have gotten out the habit of blogging and even listing on etsy since I got my part time job at a frame shop can't seem to juggle it all right yet. Who knows maybe I needed a break. Loving the blue skies and lilac's of spring.

Kitchen Fan and Light NOW

So we have lived in our house now a year, a month and 17 days. I am itching to make some changes. This one involves the lighting in our kitchen...I guess the folks that lived here before used the eating area in the kitchen as a family room and since they had a ceiling fan with no light in there we assumed we would need a fan. So we need a light over our table and bought a ceiling fan with a light in it. Now after a year, a month and 17 days we have learned that the kitchen is the only room in the house that is properly heated and cooled. No need for a FAN and the lighting is horrible. We need a proper light.....I am having a hard time trying to decide what works for the space. So the following pics are the lights I like that could work. Any thoughts?

Feburary is such a short long month. We had some horrible Winter weather and then some Spring weather now back to Winter which I think confuses everyone. Not a whole lot of exciting is happening here. I have just listed these cuties in my etsy shop. I am working on a series to hang in a church gallery called, Women of Worship and will share those photos with you real soon. I am doing 17 and have 12 completed. I am working at the Frame Shop part time which I do enjoy. Just wish I could find a great pair of comfy shoes. A girl with size 11 feet can dream can't she? I don't want to give in to Men's shoes I love my Mary Janes!!! Unitl next time!

Debbie, Carrie and Oprah

Sometime ago Debbie and Carrie, Wy and Naomi, Joan and Melissa came to our city and each Mother and Daughter spoke together in a series. My Mom bought tickets for us to go. I LOVED it. My Mom and I have a strong bond. We are upfront and honest with each other and been through many heartaches together. Through it all we are each others best cheerleaders. It is a different relationship than many Mother & Daughter's I know have. My niece seems to have this going on with her Mother, my Mother, her Mamaw and well me. (My mom and I had lunch with niece Katie yesterday - honest candid conversations :)

So, yesterday when I saw that Debbie and Carrie were going to be on I had to watch. I love Carries honesty and Debbies undeniable love for her. At 78 years old Debbie still worries about her kids. It never ends. If you didnt see it try to catch it online.

snow snow snow

Our LUCY loves to be outside in the snow. Everything must smell different and well it is just so much FUN!
We survived the BIG ice storm of 2011 here in Indianapolis, Indiana. We had a little snow on the ground then we got what seemed like 3 inches of ice on top of that then yesterday 3 to 5 inches of snow depending on where you were. It was beautiful because the snow stuck to the ice covered branches.

Trees in our neighbors yard. So lovely. I love winter. It seems like everyone complains but I like how winter makes us slow down and stay in and do things we wouldn't do if it was warm and sunny outside. Enjoy your winter wherever you are.

my hutch. Just wanted to share the little Bassett Hound collection on top of the hutch. I love chalkware. Trying not to collect it but, it is so tempting. I made this piece over 8 years ago when I had a show at the Harrison Center. It was about the women in my family. This is my Mom and yes there is a small glass bottled COKE in the shadowbox.

I bought this plate to re-sell and so far it hasn't gotten past my kitchen. Not a scene you would see here in the Midwest. I think I like it because it reminds me of my trip to Maine when I spent 2 weeks taking a workshop at Haystack.

Sadly, this fall I lost a friend. Yvette was someone who I don't remember not knowing. She was older than me. We had gone to the same little church together all my young life and through the years she and her sister and her sisters girls became part of our extended family. Loosing a friend is different than loosing a relative. I am not sure that I can express it in words since I am an artist I think that is where I best express myself. But, the loss is real. It reminds me once again how life is so short and that in a turn it all can change. Along with her sister and nieces my mom and I have helped in cleaning out her house. This piece has been in her garage for years. I can't remember if it was her Grandma's or a piece she bought but it was obvious it hadn't seen the inside of a house in a long time. So, it is on loan to me for awhile.
I loaded it up in my SUV and drove her home.

My dear Mother came down and brought my step Dad (also known as the best help we can afford (free) and they are good help for sure) and we carried it into the kitchen. But, first we had to re-arrange the furniture moving tables to the basement and a cabinet to the front porch. The drawer was messed up and it was DIRTY and needed some kind of treatment. Mom to the rescue.

Tomorrow I will post the after pictures. For now I am happy to have it in my house for how ever long as it reminds me of Yvette and her Grandma.

Did a little shopping this WEEKEND

I live in the MIDWEST where it snows and gets cold and everyone is surprised when it does so. I love being inside it forces me to tackle projects and get things done. Today I finally got the area where I take pictures just the way I like it. Check that off my list. Plus, I did a little shopping. I love what I found and will be listing it all this week in my etsy shop. I know someone is going to love the headless DOLL and all the other stuff. Check my shop often as I try to list something everyday.

Special Order

My friend Becky gave me a picture of her Grandmother, a wooden window(frame) and a box of photos she bought at a yard sale and said do whatever you want. This is the best kind of special order because too many wishes for the work can spoil it for me. So I layered and stitched and painted and dotted and even included an original VIV collage that I won in 2009 through a blog giveaway. Last night I met with Becky and she loved it. So happy that she did. I like working small so BIG is always a big push for me. You can't see all the details in the pictures. My favorite spot is the rusty paper clip on the photo leaf.

new stairs

My friend Shaun, introduced me to a blog called Design Sponge (listed now on my favorite blogs list). The first post I saw was where someone had collected yard sticks and attached them to the risers of their stairs. From moving so much lately I wanted to wait a year and live here and figure out how I wanted to my house to feel. (Don't get me wrong everything is hanging on the walls) But, I wanted to wait to paint colors and make changes. SO yesterday I had my sweet Mom and step dad down and we did little projects and the best is now my ugly messed up stairs are covered with these wonderful yard sticks that my neighborhood pals (Sandy and Char) have been helping me collect. So really 6 people made this little project happen and I LOVE the way it looks.

Before...some of the steps had been covered with drywall at some point (OLD HOUSE) dirty ugly steps.

FINISHED back steps. Measure TWICE cut once, drill tiny hole and then use a finishing nail. I had a hard time doing it on my belly so my much smaller Mom did the ones on the floor.

I have been in such a wierd place for so long and then the calendar changed and it seems like that's all it took. I have been making stuff from all the FABRIC I have like a crazy person. (i use to have a wholesale line...I make multiples :) Yesterday I made 3 door pillows, 2 rectangular pillows and finished this "ugly doll" plus everything else that I do in a day I told my Mom that I want to use up all the fabric that I had and she said there is no way. So now it is a CHALLENGE bring it on Sweet Sue!!!! So this is just the begininng. Stay tuned!

About mid-week I decided it was time to get crafting again. So many distractions in 2011 really did have an effect on my being able to work as much as I have in the past. I also feel like so much has happened and alot of it was sad and it is hard to work "happy" when you are dealing with all the sadness. The NEW YEAR does bring a sense of a fresh start. Our first year in this house will be here in Feb. and my studio still isn't right (at all) to work in so....I brought the sewing machine and only a bit of fabric and ribbon that I have down to the dining room....so far this is what I have made. Of course it is all for sale and will be on etsy this coming Tuesday or before. I am working with what I have but as always I needed stuffing so there will always be SHOPPING!

I have made a few changes on my blog. New Year starts with change. I have been focused selling vintage items in my etsy store and will continue to try and list something everyday. Tiny little photo.

I just had a whirlwind of a time this past 2 weeks.

It all started with a 911 call last Monday (my husband) and now here it is Friday and I am going to a concert tonight (that is really our anniversary gift to one another) with my sister in law Cindy. Thanks for going Cindy.

In between the call and now, our family had a wonderful wedding. My heart felt so full. I am a childless 46 year old. I can't tell you how thankful I am that our siblings had kids. They have enriched my life. I felt like my daughter was getting married. I cried while I was making her floral bouquet. It all went off without a hitch and they danced all night. The dancers included my 69 year old Mother and my 86 year old Great Aunt Betty. I was out there most of the night too.

After. Crackled turquoise. I think it may have been the last Country Home magazine that had a picture of a pink dresser that was crackled and I just loved it. Well pink wouldn't go in my house but I love this. This dresser was from my Great Grandmothers. Growing up my brother always had it in his bedroom but somehow when I moved out on my own I ended up with it and this is the first time it has ever been painted. The family never had anything expensive just simple folk so a simple dresser.

guilty of neglect

Yes that is right...I am neglecting my blog. What a crazy summer it has been. I have taken photos and downloaded them but still nothing on the blog. I guess I am spending so much time growing out my hair that there is just no time to blog. hehehe Seriously, I have packed and unpacked and packed and unpacked in a years time all of our worldly possessions. Since we have moved here we have hosted a bridal shower, 54 Libertarians for a cookout of the 4th of July and other gatherings. Ed has been in the hospital 3 times since we have moved in Feb. 15th. Ive had 3 art openings and opened up an antique space 45 minutes away. I have been busy. But, I feel kinda lost I think. Unable to work (again) I think this may be the longest I have gone without being actively creative which seems okay in some ways. This week I made 2 large floral arrangements for the church for my niece Katies upcoming wedding and I am working on some moss hearts for the pews. That is creative. Yes. But, it isn't my work. I have a bunch to put on etsy but there it sits. So step one is admitting. So here it is. I admit I have been neglecting my blog and etsy and my artwork and that pile of stuff that needs dealt with and, and, and...

Fellow artists, friends, etc....what do you do when you get in a rut, slump, funk, etc....? Please share.

I posted this on Facebook a couple of weeks ago. Ed and I moved in the middle of Feb. this year to a great old home and this is our front porch. I am still moving things and re-hanging artwork and I will start doing a little painting soon. I do love it. The only drawback on having an enclosed porch in a neighborhood where people walk dogs and push baby strollers is that you miss neighboring so I walk the dog.

Today's field trip was going to Traderspoint Creamery in Zionsville, Indiana. "G" took all of these photos which are great. The cows have either just been born, gave birth or are giving birth soon. Very sweet. Cows are beautiful creatures. It has been hot everywhere lately but today was so beautiful. Hot but the Midwest humidity and severe thunderstorm was absent today.
We had planned to have ice cream here but we were just too tight to shell out the $6.50 for a shake. So we went into town and had ice cream in the very quaint villiage of Zionsville.

My Mom and I volunteered to help Katie and Robbie pack their apartment at Purdue on Thursday. Poor Katie was sick with something which we later find out was salmonella...Argh...yuck...needless to say she was in the er with her Mom when we arrived and so we dug in like we do and got the job done. Anyway...the story...Katie loves her cats and had picked one up (after she came home from the er) and sat him on top of this high TV cabinet. We are busy working and all the sudden he is on the top of the curtain. (You had to be there) it was so funny (they are huge cats) Katie to the rescue. Baby or Butters (they look alike) came back to earth they were into everything that day so funny. KT is alot like me she buys them hats and take picture of them they are CUTE!

Ever had one of those weeks that only has a couple of things on the calendar and then all the sudden it becomes the busiest week ever. This was mine this week. Some of it I captured in pictures. What is missing is an appointment at Lens Crafters (my bi-focals are on there way) late Birthday lunch at TASTE so delicious on Monday and more.

So after the mall I was thinking about what we should do with "G" so of course Zaharako's in Columbus, IN it has been there since October of 1900. Completely renovated a couple of years ago but very intact. Beautiful tin ceilings, music machines and everything you could want in a Soda Fountain. "G" and I both had yummy flavored cokes.

Sandy and her grand daughter "G" at Exit 76 Antique Mall in Edinburgh on Tuesday after we loaded our goodies in our booths. Sell, Sell, Sell. "G" is here for a month to stay with Nana and even I get to have fun with her. Such a good girl.

This is a scuplture by Greg Hull an Associate Professor at Herron School of Art and Design (where I went to school). Very cool hanging high in the Museum this Ball made from Patio umbrellas.

Sunday I went to the Indiana State Museum to check out an exhibit on Lincoln. An insurance company that use to be based in Ft. Wayne, Indiana has a vast collection of his pictures, campaign signs and other articles and this was on display.

This is our nephew Heath Schlatter and my Eddie Lee posing on South Putnam's High School Graduation Day. Heath was the Senior Class President and our family Eagle Scout. Pam & Larry (Heath's parents) roasted a hog and made amazing food the next day for his open house that they held at their home in Reelsville, Indiana in western Indiana. Heath is a great kid with lots of friends and exceptional smarts. He is off to Ball State in the Fall and is majoring in Multi Media Communications. I am excited to see what his future holds.

Bridal Shower: Katie Elkins

Today I hosted a bridal shower for my niece Katie Elkins. I had been planning it in my head for months and finally today it all came together. Yesterday my Mom aka Sweet Sue came down and we made everything. Here is the menu: Chicken Salad with dried cherries and almonds. Lettuce noodle salad. Deviled eggs. Jello salad. Strawberries. Sugar Cookies and a Triple Chocolate Trifle Pie. Lemonaide and Iced Tea. My friend Beth Trojanowski use to own a resturant and she lent me a bunch of cake stands and a springform pan (thank you Beth!). We had 19 people in total and what a wonderful couple of hours. Katie is so loved. Our good friend Robbie even came from Ky to be a part the festivities. and YES we played games I am an old fashioned girl. Games have to be played. She got great gifts and will be a wonderful homemaker. It will be so nice to have her closer. Many thanks to all of her/our friends.

Yes, this is me. I turn 46 on Tuesday. I decided to have my side of the family over for a pre-birthday celebration last night. Ed, my husband makes the best BBQ sauce I have ever had EVER. If you are lucky you have had it. Turning 46 is an odd birthdate for me. My dad died when he was 45 and 46 kind of seems like a sit up and listen year for me. Pay attention. So I am. I am settling in what I am hoping is our house for a long time. I am growing my gray wavy unruly hair out. (you should see the back, curly!) I can feel the need to make changes. I want different, better, more meaningful. I haven't created since I got my show ready for the AV Gallery which was at the first of this year. My studio is almost completely organized and ready for me. It will come. It has to be right. I have been creating a home for Ed and Lucy and I which I hate to say but after nearly 7 years of Ed and I being together, this is the first time I feel like this is OUR home. The right place. I love spending time with my nephew and niece. They are all grown up and after being away with the Marines for Mark and college for Katie they are going to be closer and hopefully will have more time to "play" with us again. My brother Roger and my always sister in law Cindy are so lucky to have these great kids. I am blessed. My Mom is my rock! With every turn I make, every crazy idea I have she is there alongside of me. I am blessed. My guy Eddie Lee well he is my love and my soft place. I am blessed. Jim my step dad is always willing to help me. Even before the gathering he fixed a lock, hung a mirror and installed a hose winder....a beautiful hose winder I might add. I am blessed.

Two in one day...Big Hat Books

This is Heather and me at our opening last night at Big Hat Books in Broadripple. Heather's work is below. She was so nice to think of me to share this space with her. Disclosure- I have decided this will be my before picture and I will be dying my hair real soon.
This building is so cool. I just love it. Big Hat Books is to the left up the stairs and to the right is a wonderful clothing store called Marigolds. They actually have some vintage Jenny Elkins in the clothing store as props. Too funny to see them again.

This is a little piece of Heathers work she is a photographer and then she adds other images to her work. Very well done and they have a real good feel to them. NICE. We both sold work last night and Heather had a bog crowd. Me, well a few folks stopped in and I appreciate it very much. I feel like I am always inviting people to something all the time....anyway it was a lovely night and the owner and the staff are delightful. I love small businesses.

I met Robbie over 10 years ago at my very first Art Fair in Louisville. Neither of us do that show anymore but, we have forged a great friendship. She generously asked me to come to her shop and do a trunk show so I packed up the SUV and went to KY. I wasn't my personal best as I had been sick with a yucky flu bug but I went anyway. Her shop is so cute and is filled to the brim with so many wonderful things if you are ever in the area please stop and shop. She makes a line of whimsical art jewelry check out her blog and follow her link to see her creations. Since this time of the year is Derby time....Robbie had some great vintage hats for sale....I just loved this PINK roses one.

See the post below for more info about the opening. Please stop by if you can. The show will hang through June 11th. Heather has great work. She does photography and then imposes other images into it. Really looks great with what I do. My guy is down again and in the hospital for a couple more days. So keep him in your thoughts and prayers. But, like my grandma said years ago try to keep things normal which is good advice and I try to do this. Unfortunately, this seems like our normal. Because of Ed's repeated problems I made the decision yesterday to not travel to KY to do the shows this summer and fall. In the long run it just isn't worth being away. I will continue to have my little "junk" booths at Exit 76 and be involved here in Indy when an opportunity comes around. It is weird last year when we moved I set up my studio first it was the only room in the house that functioned at first and now since moving in Feb. my studio is a wreck I can barely walk through it. I think I needed a break and knew it. Anyway....good day.

Isn't she pretty! We have lived here all of 7 weeks and I am so happy to see what is coming up in the yard and what the trees are doing. We have a horrible SQUIRREL problem. They eat everything including my just planted tulips. I don't feed them. Not a big fan of the SQUIRREL. I am not blessed like the McDonough's they have an OWL. On another note: I am going to ask you all for some feedback on what to do with my shed and the back of my garage. I hope you can help in the near future. The spring has been wonderful so far.

This is my Booth, B211 at Exit 76 Antique Mall. Located off of I-65 in Edinburgh, Indiana. I took so much stuff that I had to rent the mini booth next to me. Really exicited to do this again. I had many different booths for many years at Midland Arts & Antiques in downtown Indy. This mall is on the way to Indiana University. After packing, unpacking, packing and unpacking all of our earthly goods you start to question nearly everything you have in your house. So this will be a good outlet for me to keep things to a minimum here at home.
I have had that red wagon for at least 25 years. Goodbye wagon I know you will find a great home.

There is a FB Fogg Paper Mache Cat clock, lots of vintage purses and I have even gotten my step dad involved making wine stoppers out of billard balls. If you are in the area of the mall and stop in please let me know on this blog that you were there.

I spent hours setting up my booth at the Exit 76 Antique Mall today. I took so much that I had to rent another booth right there and then. The alternative would be to pack it all up and bring half of it back so another booth it is. What I didn't do is take my camera. Next time. My junkin' buddy Sandy went along for the ride and Sue (my momma) drove her truck full of my junk. So we had a great time loading and unloading. It is a really nice mall. I am not use to such nice folks and great service. I hope I get some sales too!

As you can see my etsy booth is on vacation. I will still maintain a small presence there but need a break....see you on etsy again real soon.

My good friend and artist Robbie Moriarty has generously opened her space for me to sell my work on Friday April 23rd 5-8pm and Saturday the 24th. I have been a busy artist who hasn't made any art. I have tired quickly of selling my vintage items online. I think the biggest problem for me is the shipping costs and the box issues. I hate guessing on etsy ....so how much will this 1 pound item cost to ship it to Washington State or Kentucky. Etsy desperately needs a shipping calculator. I have cheated myself out of money many times and then there are the sales out of the country. Which again I am complaining but you sell an item for $5- and then send it to France and it costs $18- to ship you are in and out of the post office and writing back and forth to the buyer for a profit of say $2 or 3 dollars. I just can't. So I have gotten a booth at Exit 76 Antique Mall and a case at Southport Antique Mall. I need some sort of steady money coming in. As soon as I move in April 1st I will post some photos here.

I have made some headway on our new place. The garage, basement and attic are basically organized thanks to hiring a strappy 16 year old who went from the basement to the 3rd floor walkup attic many many times. Once all my stuff is priced and taken to the antique mall it will eliminate the clutter in the house. But, as an artist there is always clutter somewhere.

Last night after a very busy day Ed and I went to dinner and got an appetizer of homemade chips and dip (we don't need them but wanted them okay okay) and I found this heart shaped chip. So our server took a picture and emailed it to me. Ahhhhhhhh.....so sweet. I am telling you it is the little things. I know others have found heart shaped chips and things but this is my first.

It has been a month since my last blog. (Sounds like I am in a confessional) Much has happened. I had a second opening at the AV Framing Gallery in Fountain Square and it was a great success. Many people came to the opening....some who I hadn't seen in years. I was happy with my SALES. Ed and I (Lucy too) moved into a traditional 4-square. Fireplace, hardwoods, nice wood trim and a big kitchen. My studio is still in boxes but tomorrow I will begin the process of unpacking that room. Of course the day we move it snows 4 inches which takes more time and you pay the movers by the hour. The good news is that everything arrived safely. It was exhausting though I am not going to sugar coat it. Lucy bassett loves that she has a yard again and at times we have had a hard time getting her in when we are on our way out. There have been lots of distractions along the way this month. The biggest one was my guy (Ed) had to be hospitalized for a week (which happens alot). I hate it for him and well for me too. Even the dog is sad when he is gone from home. He is on the mend. I have a good feeling about this year. I have been selling some stuff at several places around town, vintage on etsy and even clothes at a consignment store. My next event is in Louisville KY at Robbie Moriarty's store on April 23rd. If you are in the area please stop by. I promise I will blog more.....just had to settle in.

Moving DAY 2010

Don't get this confused with 2009. Yes we are moving we moved last year on Feb. 11th and this year we started moving yesterday Feb. 13th. Lonnnnnnnnnng story but hopefully at some point there will be a happy ending. SO....we are unable to get our phones and Internet hooked up until this coming Thursday. There is also a problem with not having phone jacks in the house so hope fully I will not be off line too long as I have become so very accustomed to communicating via email etc.

Haiti by Hand

The world of Blogs is so interesting. You may find someone's blog you like and then it takes you to someone else's blog and then on and on. Not so long ago I decided I needed some fresh blogs to read and inspire me and I ran across http://www.rebeccasower.typedpad.com/ blog. She is a great artist who has ties to Haiti. You will have to go to her blog and read all about it. Since the earthquake, she has started another blog http://www.haitibyhand.typepad.com/ and a etsy store http://www.haitibyhand.etsy.com/ where you can purchase something made by hand and the monies go to help HAITI a win win for everyone. She has started a yarn drive, craft supply drive and a quilt drive.

Today she wrote how we are not hearing about HAITI as much. That they are still having aftershocks and there is so much to be done still.

I am definately going to do send things for the supply drives. If you are local and have stuff to give away I will throw it into my box and ship it off.

The forecast was a downer a snow storm was rolling in and the word is out STAY home. I was talking to someone earlier in the day and told them I had an art opening tonight and she said "The art crowd are HARDY". So, I packed my camera and decided I would take a picture of everyone who dared to come out on this overwhelmingly beautiful night. I guess by the time I took this we had over 5 inches of snow. Now, more has fallen and blown. Secretly I am a snow girl. I love it! I love how I have to beg our little Lucy Bassett to come in and once in she is so excited. Runs all over the place. Quitling Bee

In my upcoming show "Strumpets and Squares" I am introducing some quilted wall hangings. I am a frustrated seamstress. I go to sit down and sew and end up with a horrible bobbin jam or a big chunk of fabric gets stuck and I end up putting a big hole in it. I am also too much of a "free spirit" to do major detailed sewing. Measure twice cut once!
I have an altered ART friend Joanie who is a master quilter! How blessed am I. She can whip a project into shape in no time. I had an idea of how it should all go together but really no clue as what I should use or how to go about it. I am sooooooo thankful for her help.

Shaun came by with Ashie (Im sure I spelled her name wrong) she is a big SWEETIE. Shaun is sweet too.
